Paths

Paths represent the various abilities of your character; the different things that character can do on an adventure.  When making your character, you automatically get the following four paths:  Wound, Wealth, Willpower, and Artifice.  All characters in Fifth Age have these paths.  In addition, you get to select 10 additional paths for your character.  There are some restrictions:

At least 3 of these paths must come from the “Town” section.  These represent your ability to either make something useful, or provide the components to do so, or both.  Every character must be able to provide something of use on the Isle.

At least 3 of your selected paths must NOT come from the “Town” section.  Every character must also be able to help out on an adventure.

Apart from that, you may select any 10 paths you like.  Paths are formatted as follows:

PATH NAME  [This is the name of the path.] – Path Category [Combat, Intel, and Arcane.  This is just a classification – you can pick any paths you like.  But some effects may reference a certain type of path, so this category is here.]

Stat / Stat [Each path is “Keyed” to two different stats.  When you select a path, you will also select one of the stats to use.  This choice is permanent for your character.  The level of the path for your character will always equal the number of the chosen stat.  For example, Toughness is “keyed” to Training and Zeal.  If you choose Zeal, and have a Zeal of 4, then you have level 4 in Toughness, even if your Training is only 1.]

Description [A description of the path’s effects, as well as the relevant rules information.  Listed here will be the basic effects of the path, as well as the bonus for higher levels.]

Stat Elite:  [There will be two “stat elite” listings for each path except the four basic paths that every character starts with.  Each path changes when reaching 6th level.  The path may get better, or it may become a new path altogether.  This will always happen in one of two ways, each related to one of the two stats “keyed” to that path.  When reaching level 6 in that path, you get the elite ability that is keyed to the stat you first chose when taking the path.]
